# How we research embroidery machines
We'd rather tell you exactly how our recommendations are made than imply something they aren't. Here's the process behind every guide, review and calculator on EmbroideryWise.

## What we do (and don't do)
EmbroideryWise is a research-based buyer's guide. We don't run a lab, and our reviews are not hands-on tests. Instead, for every machine we:

- **Start from the manufacturer's spec sheet**: embroidery field in millimetres, machine type, built-in designs, speed, design transfer, file format.
- **Translate the marketing.** Inch labels are rounded — a 4 × 4 field is 100 × 100 mm, not 101.6. We always lead with millimetres and label the inch name for what it is.
- **Cross-check with manuals** when product pages conflict (and say so rather than guess).
- **Read specialist sources** (Madeira, Sulky, Schmetz, Brother support, Ink/Stitch) for stabilizer, thread, needle and troubleshooting advice.
- **Flag uncertainty.** When a spec can't be confirmed, or sources disagree, we say so rather than guess.
Each machine page lists the sources we relied on.

## Why we publish no scores
We don't publish star ratings or 10-point scores. A single number can't capture whether a 4 × 4 field fits your designs — and we won't invent test results we don't have. Instead, every machine gets a plain-English verdict: who it's for, who should skip it, and what to compare it with.

## Prices
We don't show live prices we can't keep accurate. Prices change daily and vary by seller, so always check the current price, warranty and box contents on the retailer page.

## Editorial independence
Brands cannot pay for placement, and we don't accept free products in exchange for coverage.

## Updates and corrections
