About EmbroideryWise
Clear beginner embroidery guidance, with visible sources and honest limits.
EmbroideryWise helps beginners choose a first embroidery machine and plan projects without expensive mistakes. Our coverage focuses on home single-needle machines sold in the US, especially the Brother models most beginners shortlist, plus Janome, bernette and Singer alternatives.
How we research
- Specifications come from manufacturers. Every machine spec links to the maker’s product page or manual, with the date we last checked it (October 7, 2026). When a maker’s own pages conflict, we say so instead of picking the flattering number.
- Technique claims cite specialists. Stabilizer, thread, needle and troubleshooting advice links to manufacturers and specialist sources such as Madeira, Sulky, Schmetz, Brother support and Ink/Stitch.
- Recommendations follow needs, not commissions. We match machines to what you want to make: design size, sewing vs embroidery-only, transfer method. The embroidery field is weighted most because it is the one spec you cannot change after buying.
- Formulas are visible. Every calculator explains its formula and assumptions. Default values are examples, not measurements.
What we don’t do
- We do not claim hands-on testing we have not done. Our machine pages are research-based reviews and say so.
- We do not publish star ratings, scores or “#1 tested” badges.
- We do not show live prices we cannot keep accurate. Check the current price with the seller.
- We do not guarantee income from an embroidery business.
Updates and corrections
Guides show a “last reviewed” date. We re-check machine specifications when manufacturers change their lineup. Specifications can change without notice, so always confirm against your exact model’s manual and the seller’s listing. If you spot an error, tell us and we will correct it and update the date.
How EmbroideryWise is funded
Some links go to retailers such as Amazon. If an affiliate tag is active, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That never changes a machine’s specifications or what a calculator reports. See our affiliate disclosure.
